Places to visit in Seoul

Seoul is the capital of Korea, where you can see beautiful old palaces with 600 years of history, and see Korean art and culture at once. So today, I'd like to recommend some major attractions in Seoul, South Korea.

Gyeongbokgung Palace(경볡ꢁ)

Gyeongbokgung Palace was the first palace built during the Joseon Dynasty. It suffered several fire damage and most of the palaces were restored in 1996.

If you go here, you can see the royal family of the Joseon Dynasty from Korean dramas. In addition, you can take pictures wearing Korean traditional clothes, Hanbok. So you can feel the feeling of becoming the main character of the drama.

To get to Gyeongbokgung Palace, you can get off at Gwanghwamun Station on Subway Line 5, get off at Gyeongbongguk Station on Line 3 and walk.

Ikseon-dong Hanok Street(읡선동 ν•œμ˜₯거리)

The oldest hanok village in Seoul is located in Ikseon-dong. Cafes began to be created by renovating old hanoks, and many restaurants were created nearby, centering on these cafes. Now, not only Koreans but also foreigners are visiting this place.

It's better to go to Ikseon-dong Hanok Street on weekdays because there are too many people on weekends. If you want to see a pretty and cute alleyway, I recommend going on weekdays rather than weekends.

To get to Ikseon-dong Hanok Street, exit 4 of Jongno 3-ga Station and walk.

Namdaemun Market(λ‚¨λŒ€λ¬Έ μ‹œμž₯)

Namdaemun Market is a place with a tradition that originated from the Joseon Dynasty, which was burned down in 1953 due to a fire, but since 1958, buildings have been built and department stores have been established, making it a market with various products.

It is a must-visit course for tourists from abroad, and you can get everything from goods produced in Korea to goods imported from abroad in Namdaemun.

And as many tourists visit, food has developed, and many restaurants such as Kalguksu Alley(칼ꡭ수 골λͺ©) and Galchi Alley(갈치 골λͺ©) are gathered.

Walking along the market, you can find Sungnyemun Gate(μˆλ‘€λ¬Έ), Korea's No. 1 national treasure. It is a place where access was restricted during the Joseon Dynasty, and it still maintains its grand appearance.

To get to Namdaemun Market, get off at Hoehyeon Station on Subway Line 4, exit 5 and walk.

Seoul City Hall Square(μ„œμšΈμ‹œμ² κ΄‘μž₯)

Across Namdaemun is Seoul City Hall, and the square in front of City Hall has a wide grass square, and various performances and festivals are held on weekends.

The way to get to Seoul City Hall Square is right in front of exit 3 of City Hall Station on lines 1 and 2.

Deoksugung Palace(λ•μˆ˜κΆ)

Deoksugung Palace is on the other side of Seoul City Hall. It is one of Seoul's four palaces, and it is not big, but it has many unique buildings, so there are many things to see.

So far, we've looked into major tourist attractions in Seoul, South Korea. I hope it will help those who plan to travel to Korea. Thank you.
